Highlights (#101)

The River Music Experience (RME) in Davenport, Iowa, is a full-service music destination, offering instrument, vocal, and audio engineering lessons, a variety of free and ticketed entertainment, and a museum showcasing the history of American roots music. The RME is also home to the Redstone Room, a premier music venue with a trendy club-like feel. Jason Walsmith from The Nadas travels to the RME to learn about how it came to be, how it survives, and how it has positively impacted the community and the Quad Cities area. National and regional touring acts perform in the Redstone Room and join Jason for backstage interviews about what attracts artists to smaller venues. Bands highlighted in this episode include: the Devil Makes Three, Jonny Fritz, Miles Nielsen and the Rusted Hearts, The Steepwater Band, and local favorite, Jim the Mule. Once viewed as a pit-stop for bands crossing the country, The Redstone Room at River Music Experience in Davenport is now part of the lively and eclectic Quad Cities music scene and is quickly becoming a must-play venue. Hosted by Jason Walsmith from the Nadas, Live at the Redstone Room showcases a variety of musical artists recorded in front of a live audience, as well as behind-the-scenes interviews with the bands.
