New York City Ballet: "Swan Lake" (#2403)
The full-length production of Tchaikovsky's famous ballet, choreographed by Peter Martins and designed by Per Kirkeby, celebrates the New York City Ballet's 50th anniversary. Beverly Sills hosts the three-hour broadcast. "Swan Lake," composed in 1876 and originally choreographed by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov, tells the story of Prince Siegfried's love for the Swan Queen, Odette, who is under the spell of the magician Rothbart. [176 minutes]
