This program features Kurt Masur in his farewell as Music Director of the New York Philharmonic. The gala concert also celebrates the 75th birthday of this remarkable maestro, one of the most admired and respected musicians of his generation, as he ends his 11-year collaboration with the New York Philharmonic. The program will revisit works by Beethoven, Bach, Mendelssohn, Puccini and others that spotlight the extraordinary range of brilliant principal players as soloists. The program will also present world premieres by two of Masur's favorite composers: Lukas Foss and Siegfreid Matthus. [116 minutes]
