Taped at the Lyon National Opera, Donizetti's comic opera buffa features opera's couple of the moment, Robert Alagna and Angela Gheorghiu, as the true-hearted peasant Nemorino and the beautiful, rich Adina. Set in a sun-drenched southern Italian village in the 1930's, this charming and tender tale tells how romance is ushered along with the assistance of an exotic elixir of love more commonly known as red wine.
