The Joy of Pigs (#1404)
This episode takes a fresh look at pigs. Smart and adaptable, wild pigs live in the forests of Europe and Asia and on the savannas of Africa. The program explores the lives of such creatures as the bearded pig of Borneo; the intrepid wart hog and the unique red river hog of Africa; and the distantly related peccary of the Americas. The program also examines the lives of domesticated pigs, most of which are descended from the European wild boar; the pot-bellied pigs who live in luxury as pampered pets; those with discriminating snouts that sniff out truffles in France; and the most typical of the domesticated pigs who provide sustenance to people all over the world. Throughout their history, pigs have formed a lasting relationship with humans. [56 minutes]
