Orangutans: Just Hangin' On (#1505)

This episode chronicles efforts to save this remarkably human primate. Poaching and loss of habitat have reduced the wild orangutan population by 30% in the last twenty years. From rehabilitation facilities in Sumatra and Borneo to animal research centers around the world, study of orangutans in captivity and in the wild help scientists understand and sustain existing populations. This episode examines recent attempts to reintroduce captive orangutans into the wild. [56 minutes] Closed Captioning
