Anne of Green Gables

The Continuing Story (Part 2 of 2) (#302)

In a bizarre twist of fate, Anne is reunited with Jack Garrison who is now working in France as a war correspondent. Jack is travelling with a young French woman, Colette, and their baby son, Dominic. When Jack disappears and Colette is killed during an attack on the field hospital, Anne is left to care for Dominic. At the same field hospital, Anne is stunned to find Fred, suffering terribly from his wounds, but alive. She vows to get both Fred and Dominic home safely to Canada. Subsequently, Anne learns of Jack's role in an American intelligence effort to end the war. Her affiliation with him lures her into a dangerous web of intrigue in exchange for his help in finding her husband. She risks her life to get Dominic to safety in an orphanage, then desperately continues her search for Gilbert. Thanks to Jack's efforts, Anne is finally reunited with Gilbert after his release from a POW camp where troops are abandoning their posts in the wake of the Armistice. When Jack is tracked down and Anne loses him, she and Gil launch a successful search for Dominic whom they adopt upon their return home to Prince Edward Island.
