It's another favorite from Pioneer Hall, time to call the hogs. We don't know why pigs would respond to these sounds, but it's fun listening to humans make them.

At the Livestock Pavilion, it's the 4-H Grand Champion steer judging. This is not only a highlight for some 4-H competitors but for the Iowa livestock industry as well.

It really doesn't matter what these contestants do at the Riley Stage. They're cute no matter what, whether they're racing in diapers or sitting around in decorated ones. It's a fun time.

When it's hot and humid, baking bread can be a challenge. Some contestants at the Elwell Family food Center were up at 4 am just so their dough would rise. The division is Red Star with Whole Grain Breads - Whole Grain Yeast Bread/Rolls

At the Fair, bigger is often better. Take, for example, the quest for the Blue Ribbon for the biggest pumpkin. We find the big pumpkins just outside of the Agriculture Building.

Dogs helping herd other animals goes back centuries. At the stock dog trials in the new outdoor arena, humans and their dogs continue this ancient partnership.
