In the early days of production for Timeless Tractors: The Collectors, we made the decision to head for Mt. Pleasant to Midwest Old Settlers & Threshers. We knew that would be the place to make some contacts and see some impressive tractors. We were not disappointed. Shortly after arriving, we were introduced to Fred Buckert, a collector who had been part of old Threshers for the better part of five decades. His humbling nature and thoughtful answers were inspiring for the documentary. Sadly, Fred recently passed away. I think meeting Fred at the beginning of the documentary was meant to be. After meeting him, I purposely sought out people who had the same characteristics as Fred. He embodied the true spirit of tractor collectors. The parade will not be the same this year. Thanks to all the Old Threshers fans who reached to let us know about Fred’s passing.
