There are hundreds of lobbyists registered to lobby both the legislature and the executive branch. What they do and how much influence they have are discussed on The Iowa Journal.
The guests include Rep. Scott Raecker, R-Urbandale. He is on the House Ethics committee and Executive Director of Character Counts in Iowa. The other guest is Charlie Smithson, Executive Director and Legal Counsel for the Iowa Ethics and Campaign Disclosure Board. He is a contributing author to the book "Money, Politics, and Campaign Finance Reform Law in the States."
