Find out about Heartland Adult Day Center in Ames, and visit Elizabeth Buchwald who cares for her mother in-law and her mother in-law's sister in her home. Elizabeth's mother in-law, Katherine Buchwald, attends the day center 3 days a week.

Heartland Adult Day Center Director, Laurie Lybarger says most of her clients learn about the center by word-of-mouth. She said, "It always seems to be some tragic accident or some kind of event has occurred that adult children say, 'Okay, now what are we going to do.'"

The studio discussion with John McCalley, Director of Elder Affairs and Anthony Carroll, AARP Iowa Associate State Director for Advocacy summarizes a few options for caregivers and also focuses on the status of several pieces of legislation dealing with long-term care.

David Pitt, Associated Press reporter, discusses Iowa's crop planting intentions and legislative action on the state budget.
