Kristen Constant introduces herself and teaches students about her job as a materials science engineer. She demonstrates the energy wasted in the form of heat by an average light bulb and explains why recycling light is important to reducing the use of energy for light. She introduces the concepts of reflection, refraction and absorption a demonstrates the light filter developed by her and her team. She shows students how they can thinking like an engineer. This video is targeted at students in grades 3-5.
