Program: Market to Market #3332
Broadcast Date: Apr. 11, 2008
Through a non-profit organization called Farm Rescue, volunteers travel farm to farm to plant crops for growers who are side-lined by injury, surgery or natural disaster. The organization, established in 2006, has helped nearly two dozen farmers in North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota. Farm Rescue founder, Bill Gross is a UPS airline pilot who grew up on a North Dakota farm. He says as farm sizes get larger, there are fewer neighbors around to help those in need.
