Last year (2007) Governor Chet Culver signed a law designed to promote and develop Iowa's film industry. The Iowa Film Promotion Act authorized tax incentives that help make Iowa a more attractive place to shoot a film.

By all accounts the incentives are bringing filmmakers to the state. The tax breaks rival, if not exceed anything offered in the U.S. By all accounts Iowa’s generous tax incentives for the film industry are working as intended -- attracting movie makers to the state. But what’s next? Is the state prepared for the business its generating?

Guests are Tom Wheeler, Director of the Iowa Film Board and Kent Newman, President of the Iowa Motion Picture Association.

David Pitt of the Associated Press shares his insights on Monday morning's immigration raids (05/12/08) at a meat processing facility, Agriprocessors, Inc., in Postville. Pitt also discusses presidential politics returning to Iowa with democrat Barack Obama posturing for the November election.
