Program: The Iowa Journal #159
Broadcast Date: May. 19, 2008
Gas prices are climbing it seems every day and approaching the $4 mark. So what does that mean? Among other things, ridership on buses and trains is rising about as fast as the price at the pump. Sioux City transit ridership is up 11%, Des Moines' DART is up 25% and the Mason City Transit is up 7.5%.
On this Iowa Journal, we discuss ridership on buses, alternatives to driving your car and what other gas-price-related items are quickly heading to the front- burner of many households across Iowa.
During our set up feature, we profile Mason City and Region 2 transit system to see how high fuel prices impacts them and their new riders.
