Collection: Third Annual Iowa High School Summit
For many students, their experience of high school is one of anonymity. For many high school educators, their professional community lacks shared purpose and identity, mutual respect, trust, and collaboration. We can't hope to improve student achievement, decrease disciplinary problems, or increase retention unless we can improve the quality of relationships in our high schools. The goal of a Smart and Good High School is to help all stakeholders (faculty and staff, students, parents and the wider community) to develop an Ethical Learning Community where all are supported and challenged to do their best work (performance character) and be their best ethical self (moral character). Learn foundational strategies from a national research report for making character and culture a pathway to “rigor, relevance and relationships.”
