P. Allen Smith | Creating an Orchid Baby Shower Centerpiece | PBS

Duration: 01:18
Program: P. Allen Smith's Garden Home

If you're planning a baby shower for someone who's expecting a baby girl, Here's an idea for a centerpiece. It's really easy to assemble and it can be given to the mother to be after the shower. This pink cookie jar was found at a local grocery store and thought it would be perfect for a baby girl themed shower. The other items you'll need are two orchids, some old newspaper, and a little bit of sheet moss. First, stuff the bottom of the cookie jar with newspaper. This will help elevate the potted orchids so that they sit at the right height in the deep container. Then, place the two orchids inside the cookie jar. Be sure to leave the plastic containers on the orchid, to keep from leaking when it's time to water. Next, place the sheet moss at the base of the cookie jar to hide any of the plastic container you might see. Caring for the orchids is really easy, when watering, they require 3 cubes of ice for each plant, once a week. Not only is this a beautiful centerpiece, it's a thoughtful gift for the new mother
