P. Allen Smith | Creating an Orchid Birthday Gift | PBS

Duration: 01:05
Program: P. Allen Smith's Garden Home

Do you know someone that has everything and it's hard to find them the perfect birthday gift? Well, here's a solution. Try giving them an orchid! Just Add Ice Orchids are easy to care for and last for several months. Birthdays are all about celebration and decoration! So what better way to say "Happy Birthday", then with a decorated orchid arrangement. Here's a fun way to dress the orchid for a birthday party. You'll need an orchid, a glass cubed vase, a plastic baggie, peanut M&Ms, and a birthday card. Slip the potted orchid into the plastic baggie and place it in the cubed vase. Next, fill in the rest of the glass container with M&Ms to conceal the orchid pot. The M&M's add color to this arrangement. Then, gently tie the birthday card on one of the supporting stakes for the orchid. Not only will this make a fun gift idea for a birthday, it will also make a great centerpiece for the party!
