Iowa Public Television is producing a new special to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the tragic events of September 11, 2001. The program, Iowans Remember 9/11, debuts Sunday, September 11 at 7 p.m. on statewide Iowa Public Television.
This one-hour program is hosted by world-renowned opera star and Iowa native Dr. Simon Estes, and will feature Iowa artists showcasing their gifts to honor those lost and with hope for renewal.
Highlights will include an eclectic mix of musical offerings from the Des Moines Symphony players, The Nadas, Bob Dorr, singers from the Iowa State University Choir, and Dr. Estes himself.
Perspectives and reflections will also be provided by a variety of Iowans, including: Iowa’s Poet Laureate Mary Swander; poet, storyteller, and artist David Williamson; playwright Cynthia Mercati; and essayist Michael Gartner.
Iowans Remember 9/11 will also be shown September 11 at 10:30 p.m. on IPTV, and on Monday, September 12 at 7 p.m. on IPTV WORLD.
