Discussion: Iowa Natural Disasters 2008 - Looking Ahead

Duration: 13:42

Most Iowans are reacting to the immediate situations of rising flood waters and sudden tornados, but the aftermath of the storms will ripple through Iowa’s economy for months to come. The Iowa Journal will explore the costs and loss of productivity when Iowans lose their homes, their farm crops or their local businesses.

The Iowa Journal assesses the economic impact from these storms with David Swenson, an Iowa State University economist and L.D. McMullen, retired CEO and General Manager of the Des Moines Water Works. He now consults on water resource planning with the engineering firm Snyder & Associates.
