Borg: "Veteran" describes John McCain in many ways: his distinguished military record, congressional career, and presidential candidate. After two terms in the U.S. House, senator McCain was elected to the senate in November 1986, succeeding GOP icon and former presidential candidate Senator Barry Goldwater.

Well, today McCain is in his fourth six-year term, and he serves as ranking member of the Senate's Armed Forces Committee.

In 2000 Senator McCain went after the Republican Presidential nomination that eventually went to George W. Bush. But with the Bush Presidency now in its final sixteen months, Senator McCain is again seeking the White House.
Welcome to "Iowa Press."
McCain: Thank you. Good to be with you.

Borg: Thank you. And you know the two journalists, I think, from the campaign trail. You've been campaigning here in Iowa.

McCain: Yeah, jerks.

Borg: Did I hear "jerks"? "Des Moines Register" political columnist David Yepsen and "Radio Iowa" News Director Kay Henderson.
