Duration: 01:12

Yepsen: One thing we do on this program, Senator, is give candidates an opportunity just to have their say. Give us your commercial. Why should an Iowa Republican stand up for you on caucus night?

McCain: I think that I can restore trust and confidence on the part of the American people and their government. It is lost now.

I believe the transcendent challenge of the 21st century is the enormous threat of radical Islamic extremism. It was not an issue in 2000, obviously.

And I believe that my experience, my knowledge, my background, qualifies me or gives me the qualification for the consideration of the people of Iowa.

And finally, one of the major reasons why Iowans and Arizonans and others have lost confidence and trust in government is because of our excessive, outrageous, disgraceful spending habits, which has led to corruption in Washington.

I've been fighting it for twenty years, long before most of these guys were in office. So I think that I can adequately address that issue as well.
