Broadcast Date: Sep. 18, 2008
Across the state in almost every county on any weekend evening during warm months you can hear the roar of an engine coming from a race track. This episode of The Iowa Journal explores auto racing and its impact on the Iowa economy.
With 79 tracks across the state, Iowa leads the nation in the number of racetracks per capita. In addition to exploring the industry’s impact, this episode of The Iowa Journal will compare the dirt track in Rock Rapids in Lyon County to the Iowa Speedway in Newton.
