Program: Assignment Iowa #106
Since 1979, teams of doctors, nurses, and support staff from Mercy
Medical Center in Des Moines have been donating their time and
expertise to help children from Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. Each year,
30 to 40 children and their parents have been brought to Iowa for
diagnosis, treatment and corrective heart surgery. The team left for
Yucatan February 9 to evaluate the next group of heart patients.
