Presents highlights coverage of a parade honoring Iowa’s veterans and service members held on Saturday, June 30, 2012. Iowa’s Governor, Terry Branstad, and Lt. Governor, Kim Reynolds, worked in conjunction with the Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Iowa National Guard to organize the event that recognizes the achievements of, and salutes the dedication and commitment of, Iowa’s service men and women. The parade was similar to one held in 1991 that welcomed home Iowa soldiers from the first Iraq war. This parade honors veterans and service members from all wars and all time periods. The program was hosted by Iowa Public Television’s Dean Borg & Charity Nebbe, as well as Colonel Robert King (retired), the man appointed by Governor Branstad to organize the parade.
