DTV Reception - How to get a better picture
Duration: 04:00
-
Program: The Iowa Journal #205
Broadcast Date: Nov. 6, 2008
Another difference between analog and digital TV signals is that analog signals fade gradually, but digital signals fall off suddenly. Once again, good antennas and antenna placement are a priority for good DTV reception. Bill Hayes and Gary Sgrignoli explain.
This clip also gives some basics on several other DTV secrets. First, the digital channels you're getting now are probably going to change numbers in February. They may be changing without your knowing it, as stations make transmitter tests.
Second, your digital tuner tries to help by scanning for good signals, and bringing in the stations you expect on the station numbers you expect. Just remember to scan often. And, a good option for your tuner is to have one that does 'added' scans, in other words, doesn't erase station numbers it's found in the past. That way, you won't lose out on the programs you want to watch.
