Exploring Doc's paranoia and mental illness, this homemade, improvisational piece sheds light on an original mind as well as the cultural history of postwar America.

In this clip, Harold Louis "Doc" Humes' mental state is not helped when he discovers that one of his compatriots used to be in the CIA.

DOC premieres Tuesday, December 9 on INDEPENDENT LENS, a weekly series airing on PBS. Hosted by Terrence Howard, the acclaimed series showcases powerful and innovative independent films. Presented by ITVS, INDEPENDENT LENS is broadcast on PBS stations nationwide.
