Iowa and the Economic Crisis - December 2008

Duration: 03:19

Are the good times gone for good?

The Iowa Journal will get into big economic ideas. What can turn this economy from heading down to heading back up? What are some of those ideas to be looked at? Is this time to go into public works projects or infrastructure renovations?

What can business, the government and others do to help turn this economy around? Ten trillion dollars has already been committed to helping change the economic tide. Will gains be able to offset that expenditure?

We bring two big idea thinkers who've been getting a lot of press lately. Ernie Goss is a professor of economics at Creighton University in Omaha. He's got a good feel for what's happening in the state and the region in this economy.

Dave Swenson is becoming a frequent guest on The Iowa Journal. The Iowa State University economics professor recently talking about the use of public money in infrastructure and public works project is one way to keep the economy going.
