Program: The Iowa Journal #218
Broadcast Date: Feb. 26, 2009
It's been another rough week for Iowa media – newspapers are closing, long-standing news reporters are being laid off, corporations are folding -- and the trend continues across the nation. What is the future of the media? What's the biggest challenge for radio, TV and newspapers?
We talk with Michael Gartner who has published newspapers and run NBC News. Also Bill Monroe, who has spent nearly 3 decades as the executive director of the Iowa Newspaper Association, and Mark Eno, who is general manager of the KMA radio in Shenandoah.
News analyst Kay Henderson of Radio Iowa and host Paul Yeager talk prevailing wage, limits on campaign contributions, and recall of local politicians.
