What are the three main elements that must be in balance in a working landscape? What do you think of when you hear the words mutual sustainability?

As our population grows, so do the demands we put on our natural areas. From houses to farms, landfills to hiking trails, working landscapes are a way of sustaining the land by balancing social, economic, and ecological needs. this approach may be a critical step in sustaining our fragile ecosystems; however, not everyone agrees on how a healthy working landscape can come to be, or whether it is desirable in every case. This award-winning program examines the issues, surveys the experts, and challenges you to make decisions to balance our ecological, economic, and social needs.
