Duration: 04:30

The Veterans Parade is both solemn and celebratory. On the Grand Concourse, Fairgoers pay their respects to those who fight -- and die -- for us.

Monday was Veterans' Day at the Fair and what better way to celebrate the service that so many Iowans have given to their country than to have a parade? IPTV is proud to bring you some of the highlights.

Veterans who have served in all the major conflicts since World War II were represented, as well as those who serve in the state¹s National Guard and Reserve units. The parade had over 100 separate entrants who passed before a reviewing stand of state dignitaries, which included Iowa¹s Governor, Lieutenant Governor, the State Fair Queen and others, as well as an appreciative audience of fairgoers. All were there in order to pay tribute to those who serve. The parade was narrated by retired Colonel Robert King, former Iowa National Guard Public Affairs Officer.
