What was her worst day in captivity? Jan 1, 1981. That meant she lost the entire year of 1980 because she was held captive the entire year. She also talks about her roommate Ann Swift and how they managed to survive a life of captivity.

In 1979, Koob was the director of the Iran-American cultural center. While there, she was abducted and held hostage in Tehran for the 444 days by Iranian students. She has chronicled her life in a book called "Guest of the Revolution" and is now an instructor at Wartburg College in Waverly.
