Transcript (RTF)

Clark Underwood was a flight engineer aboard a B-17 on a bombing mission over Bordeaux, France. They were shot down and crashed in the Bay of Biscayne. He was captured by French Indian troops and transferred to Frankfurt, Germany as a prisoner. The average age of combat crews was 19 ½. Clark Underwood was 28, and says that’s what got him in trouble. The Germans thought that he was a spy. He spent 14 months as a P.O.W. with a lot of time in solitary confinement.
