World War II Veteran: Burdette Parrott (Shorty)

Sgt. Shorty Parrott was a platoon leader in Company K, 168th Infantry, 34th Division - the “Red Bull Division”. He tells us about the November 8, 1942 amphibious invasion of Algiers, North Africa. In January, 1943, he was captured while on the front lines in Tunisia. Shorty spent 2 years and 3 months as a POW in 3 different Nazi prison camps. He was in Stalag 3B where he battled lice, wore the same pair of pants and jacket and went without a hot bath for over 2 years. Shorty shares his WWII story with the students in Atlantic and Glenwood schools.
