Mortenson, who has worked for 17 years in the region, is the author of the worldwide best-seller, Three Cups of Tea , and a new book, Stones Into Schools . Both books tell the remarkable story of Mortensen's efforts to build dozens of schools in some of the most lawless and remote regions of Afghanistan and Pakistan.
