Transcript (RTF)

Marty Grandquist knew that he was going to be in the military as a child. He is a three wars veteran, serving in the Marine Corps, Army and Air Force 1943 – 1972. He tells us how Marine boot camp in San Diego molded him into another human being. Marty faced the enemy at many islands in the Pacific including Kwajalein, Anawetok and Iwo Jima. In 30 years, he was only nicked once and that happened at Iwo Jima. Being in the military allowed him to see and be part of the world.
