Collection: Iowa's WWII Stories
Curt Bauer of Ames, Iowa served in the Navy 1944 – 1946 aboard a supply ship to the Seabees. Curt tells us about a 45 day trip taking a six section dry dock by convoy in heavy seas from San Francisco to Guam. He says the toughest thing about heavy seas was the food. As a radar operator, he became close friends with a signalman from Waterloo.
