Volume See Clip 1

Duration: 02:50

"Volume See" was the children's program that preceded and informed PBS's Sesame Street.

Carl Williams hosted the show in 1968 and 1969. These are samples of how clips of the host were inter-related to the movie clips during the 3 hours of this Saturday morning program.

The program was funded by the Ford Foundation, and produced in Iowa. Some segments were produced by public television stations in Texas, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Wisconsin. However, like most children's programs of that time period, Volume See also used films from sources like Encyclopedia Britannica and other classroom film makers.

Clip one shows the show's countdown, open, and Carl Williams' introduction to the first clip about a train.
