Forgiveness Discussion

The Iowa Journal will quiz experts about not just why forgiveness should be practiced, but how to effectively practice it. These experts include:

  • Dr. Nathaniel G. Wade, associate professor of psychology at Iowa State University, has been studying the effects of forgiveness counseling on different groups of volunteers since 2000.
  • Sandy Hoenig, also from Ames, is a retired school counselor who has been a forgiveness retreat facilitator for more than 10 years. Her book is titled "The Joy of Forgiveness."
  • And, Mary Hayes Grieco is the director of The Midwest Institute forForgiveness Training in Minneapolis. Mary has been teaching an 8-step model of forgiveness for more than 20 years in the U.S. and abroad. She is also the author of books and CDs, including "The Peaceful Heart" and "Be a Light: Illumined Essays for Times Like These."
