Collection: Iowa's WWII Stories
Ed Callanan joined the army on April Fool’s Day, 1942. He served with the 91st Cavalry Reconnaissance squadron. Ed trained on the Mojave desert in California and practiced driving jeeps in the desert. That prepared him for duty in Casablanca, Africa. He also served in Sicily and mainland Italy.
